The four-star Parador de Vilalba is a wonderful and historic hotel which comprises a medieval tower from the 16th century and a new building which reflects the typical Galician style, where most of the rooms are found. The Parador is in the historic centre of Vilalba, next to the church of Santa María. Vilalba is to the North of Lugo, 35 km. away by the N-VI road from Madrid to A Coruña.
There are several interesting places in the Galicia region within a hours car drive from Villalba to to visit. Santiago de Compostela used to be the third most visited place of pilgrimage during the first one thousand years following the birth of Christ. The cathedral contains the tomb of the apostle St. James.
